Renée Bizer
Executive Director
With more than 30 years of experience driving transformative community and economic development initiatives across Los Angeles County and beyond. Her career spans leadership in banking, diversity and inclusion, compliance, affordable housing, and strategic program design, where she has consistently delivered innovative, cost-efficient solutions for both nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Renée’s expertise includes banking operations, supplier diversity, disaster preparedness, tax credits, underwriting, and place-based community initiatives. She is also co-author of political strategies and faith initiatives adopted by a major lending institution, further solidifying her reputation as a trusted advisor to the faith-based and business communities alike.
Throughout her career, Renée has held pivotal leadership roles, including Taskforce Lead with FEMA (Department of Homeland Security), COO of Arroyo Valley CDC, Regional Manager at Wells Fargo Community Development, and VP Manager of National Affordable Housing. Her achievements include leading a place-based initiative in Compton that generated more than 3,200 jobs and two new banking branches, as well as securing $2 million in funding for the Lula Washington Dance and Enrichment Center. Renée holds a Master of Science in Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University and has studied at UCLA Anderson School of Business. Recognized with numerous awards—including Corporate Angel, Diversity, Star Leader, and Community Partner for Economic Development—Renée is driven by her passion for equity, her commitment to building sustainable communities, and her ability to translate visionary strategies into measurable impact.

With a proven track record in cultivating strategic partnerships with government, nonprofit, and corporate stakeholders, Renee has spearheaded initiatives such as Embracing Vermont, the Youth HIRE program, and healthcare-aligned services under CalAIM’s Enhanced Care Management (ECM) and Community Supports framework. Her leadership ensures that VVCDC remains a trusted community anchor dedicated to equity-driven transformation.
Prior to joining VVCDC, Renee served as Chief of Partnerships and Programs at the Community Economic Development Corporation and as Director of Programs at the Vermont Slauson Economic Development Corporation (VSEDC). In these roles, she secured millions in funding, launched innovative business and housing initiatives, and developed recognized best-practice models for workforce and small business development. Renee holds an Executive MBA from the University of Southern California and is recognized for her ability to build high-performing teams, strengthen institutional partnerships, and advance place-based strategies that drive measurable community impact.

She leads organizational strategy, program management, and operational excellence. With over 15 years of leadership experience spanning healthcare, nonprofit, retail, and financial sectors, Jania leverages her diverse expertise to advance VVCDC’s mission of fostering equity, stability, and opportunity along the Vermont Corridor.
In her role, Jania manages cross-sector partnerships, directs program implementation, and ensures alignment with VVCDC’s long-term vision for community revitalization. Known for her resourcefulness and hands-on leadership, she brings deep skill in operational leadership, compliance oversight, program design, and team empowerment. Her career reflects a consistent track record of streamlining systems, improving service outcomes, and building sustainable pathways for underserved populations. Through her dedication and passion for service, Jania continues to shape VVCDC as a trusted anchor institution in South Los Angeles—driving meaningful change and advancing equity for all.
